• Minimum Age:21 Years
• Maximum Age (UR Male):37 Years
• Maximum Age (BC / EBC Male & Female):40 Years
• Maximum Age (UR Female):40 Years
• Maximum Age (SC / ST Male & Female):42 Years
• BHS Cadre Members:5 Years age relaxation in their respective category.
• PwBD (DQ) Candidates:10 Years relaxation in upper age limit.

Educational Qualification & Seat Distribution

• Medical Faculty: Minimum Post Graduate Degree (MD / MS / DNB / DNB Super Speciality) in the concerned specialty subject from a recognized MCI/NMC institute. In case of shortage of PG degree holders, Diploma holders will be considered (placed lower in merit).
• Non-Medical Faculty (Anatomy & Physiology): M.Sc. (Medical) with Ph.D. degree in the concerned subject is mandatory.
• Seat Distribution Quota:
  • 40% Posts: Reserved for Bihar State Health Service (BHS) cadre doctors.
  • 40% Posts: Reserved for doctors who completed PG residency from Bihar State Government Medical Colleges.
  • 20% Posts: Open for doctors who obtained PG residency from recognized institutions outside Bihar.
• Tenure Restriction: Candidates who have already completed a 3-year tenure as Senior Resident/Tutor in the applied specialty are ineligible. An affidavit confirming non-completion of 3 years in the applied specialty is required during verification.

Selection Process & Merit Point Calculation

Selection is based purely on a Merit Point System (Minimum qualifying marks: 16 points):

• Aggregate of 3 MBBS University Exams: Max 5 Points (>70%: 5, >65%: 4, >60%: 3, >55%: 2, >50%: 1).
• Specialty Subject Marks: Max 5 Points (>70%: 5, >65%: 4, >60%: 3, >55%: 2, >50%: 1).
• MD / MS in Specialty:10 Points.
• Ph.D. / DM / M.Ch. in Specialty:10 Points.
• Government / Semi-Govt. Work Experience in Bihar: 2 Points per complete year (Max 10 Points).
• Interview Points: As interviews are discontinued, all eligible candidates receive an equal 6 Points.

How to Apply Online for BCECEB Senior Resident 2026

1. Visit the BCECEB official website: bceceboard.bihar.gov.in.
2. Click on the "Online Portal of Senior Resident / Tutor under Health Dept." link.
3. Click "Apply for Senior Resident/Tutor" and select "New Registration".
4. Verify your mobile number and email ID using OTP authentication.
5. Login with your Registration Number and Password to select your applied Department.
6. Fill in Personal Information, Permanent/Correspondence Address, and Educational Qualifications.
7. Upload scanned high-contrast colour photograph and signature.
8. Review the preview application form carefully and click "Final Submit & Proceed to Payment".
9. Pay the ₹2,250/- fee online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
10. Download the Confirmation Page and Fee Receipt for future counseling use (No need to send physical copy to BCECEB).

Note: In-service doctors and candidates under bond must bring an official No Objection Certificate (NOC) and experience certificate issued by competent authority during counseling.
