Canteen Category-Wise Modernisation Grant Details

Financial assistance provided by DoPT for upgradation of kitchen equipment, furniture, and storage facilities:

Eligibility Criteria & Key Conditions

Target Organizations: All Ministries, Departments, and Attached/Subordinate Offices of the Central Government (located in Delhi & Outside Delhi).
Selection Mode: Grants are provided strictly on a First-Cum-First-Serve basis as a one-time measure.
Re-Application Rule: Ministries/Departments that have already submitted proposals or received the grant earlier do not need to apply again.
Required Approvals: Proposal must be approved by the respective Integrated Finance Division (IFD) / Financial Adviser of the Ministry/Department.
Code Requirements: Authorized Controller Code (Pr. AO), PAO Code, and DDO Code of the concerned Department must be attached.

Step-by-Step Submission Instructions

Assess the modernization needs for non-statutory departmental canteens under your administrative charge.
Draft the composite proposal incorporating requirements like upgraded kitchen equipment, fire-resistant furniture, deep refrigerators, and civil/electrical works (if needed).
Obtain formal approval from the respective Integrated Finance Division (IFD) / Financial Adviser.
Fill out the prescribed Proforma along with the Pr. AO, PAO, and DDO codes.
Forward the complete proposal to DoPT before the deadline: 31st August 2026.

Important Guidelines

Funds granted under this scheme cannot be used for starting new canteens (Capital Grants), replacement grants, or routine repair of main equipment.
Proposals should not involve any structural alteration to the basic building construction.
Procurement of items must comply with General Financial Rules (GFR) store purchase instructions.
Departments may take technical guidance from nearest Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs) under the Ministry of Tourism for kitchen equipment selection.
